We love getting to know our bride & groom’s on a personal level and we absolutely love Tyler & Kalionna! They had such a beautiful wedding day at Wildlife Prairie Park. We love asking our couples all the mushy gushy details of how they met and their first feelings about each other. Here is what Kalionna & Tyler had to say:

How did you guys meet?

Tyler and I met shortly after I moved to Eureka College for my freshman year. Classes hadn’t even started yet, but I had to move in early for soccer. As part of the preseason training, the women’s team had a scrimmage against ICC. After the game, one of my teammates and best friends (who is also a bridesmaid) introduced me to her boyfriend and a couple of their roommates, including Tyler. I can’t explain why, but something drew me to Tyler; maybe it was my newfound freedom leading to a rebellious streak, or maybe it was love at first sight. Either way, I was drawn to this unusual man in a way that immediately made me yearn to impress him. That was the first time that we met. We didn’t see each other again until the women’s team had a tournament in Wisconsin. Caleigh’s boyfriend, Kody, and Tyler followed us up north and stayed at our hotel in order to support the team. It was during this trip that Tyler and I spoke for a few minutes. I was intrigued by this odd being, goofing off in a wheelchair (because what other chair allows you to pop wheelies?) as we talked. We didn’t say much, because let’s face it I’m a female who was mentally freaking out about what to say lol. We didn’t see each other for the next week or two after this weekend. Labor Day weekend came up rather quickly, and we had the chance to see each other again. Caleigh had invited a few of us soccer girls out for a day of shooting and riding four wheelers and dirt bikes. With nothing else to do – and hoping to be able to impress Tyler – I gladly trekked to Kickapoo for a fun filled day. Years later, I have come to find out that Tyler actually turned to his friends and called dibs on “the blonde one” as soon as we got there. Apparently he was dran to me just as I was to him. It wasn’t until a few weeks later that Tyler actually got my phone number and we began texting and talking to each other all day every day. It was a quick and easy friendship to form, and we both started falling for each other FAST. I actually pushed Tyler away for the first year, wanting to be friends first, because I didn’t want anything to ruin the good relationship that we had built. We had unofficially started dating in March of 2014, but finally decided to take the next step together July 18, 2014. It’s strange to think that the both of us had an instant connection to the other person before talking to one another.  I’m not sure if I believe in soulmates; but if they exist, then Tyler is most definitely mine. The only other explanation would be to say that we fell in love at first sight.

What was your first impression of each other:

Kalionna & Tyler: I was instantly drawn to Tyler. Something about him lured me in and opened my eyes to how happy I can be. Tyler claims that he doesn’t actually remember his first impression of me. However, between him calling “dibs” and coming to every single soccer game as well as his stubborn pursuit of me, I believe that he was drawn to me just as I was to him.

How did you guys get engaged?

I had actually found the ring about 6 months before Tyler engaged. I waiting in anticipation through different holidays, my birthday, and then finally Christmas was coming around. I knew that it had to be happening soon. We spent Christmas Day with his family up north at his grandparents’ house. Thinking that Tyler would be proposing, I wore a cute outfit, had my makeup done – I looked cute! But alas, it did not happen. On the ride home, Tyler told me that he did not get me a Christmas gift this year. I was slightly upset, but tried to not let it bother me – after all, that’s not what Christmas is about. The next day, we drove down to St. Louis area to celebrate with my family. My family goes all out when it comes to Christmas, so we were opening up gifts into the early evening. When we were finally done, and debating on where to go for dinner, I began to load up the car with all of our gifts. When I was just about done, Tyler pulled me into a hug and told me that he had lied to me. I looked up at him, confused as to what he may have lied about. Then, Tyler informed me that he did in fact have a gift for me. I immediately knew what it was. Tyler began to pull a box out of his pocket and knelt to the ground. There I stood, wearing an ugly Christmas Rudolf sweater, ugly crying with joy. I couldn’t believe it was finally happening! I don’t know how long we were there for. I don’t know if he actually said/asked anything. The only thing that mattered right then and there was that I loved this man and that I wanted to spend my life with him. I immediately knelt down beside him and hugged him (while still crying of course). I don’t remember what I said, but I know that I had to of said something because as soon as I did my family cheered and shouted from just outside of the room, with phones and cameras going.

What are your favorite things to do together?

We enjoy being lazy together: we’ll watch movies and Netflix while sitting next to each other on the couch. Each Monday night, we have an “errands date” where we get all of our weekly errands done. Over the past two years, Tyler has started golfing more and more, so he has been attempting to teach me. Something that always makes me smile is the fact that we always share dad jokes and memes with each other. I can tell just by the look on his face that he has one to share with me, and it automatically makes me smile.

What is your favorite quality about the other?

Tyler: her forgiving nature Kalionna: his ability to always make me smile/laugh, even when I don’t want to.

Check out some of our favorites from their big day!

Bryanna & Andrew
